I got Pokemon Yellow a few years before Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee were released. It didn’t take long at all for me to realize that the Let’s Go games were remakes of Pokemon Yellow, with Let’s Go Pikachu being an updated version of Pokemon Yellow and Let’s Go Eevee being Pokemon Yellow if you were the one who got Eevee as your starter instead of your rival. One of the things in Pokemon Yellow that surprised me the first time I saw them was the instances where NPCs will just give you a Pokemon. Not ask for you to trade one of your Pokemon for one of theirs, but just flat out asking you if you wanted a Pokemon they were offering and giving it to you just like that if you chose “Yes”. It wasn’t the only time I had encountered something like that either. I’d also had this kind of encounter in Pokemon Black and White, where an NPC at the Dreamyard will just give you a Pansear, Panpour, or Pansage depending on your starter Pokemon, and I had another encounter like this in Pokemon X and Y where an NPC on Route 12 who will just give you a Lapras if you have the Rumble Badge and an empty slot in your party. It’s just that each time I had an encounter like that in a Pokemon game, it surprised me the first time I found it because I found it purely by chance. I just happened to feel like talking to the NPCs or I was stuck somewhere and looking for help from the NPCs, and I just happened to find these ones who were completely willing to just give me a Pokemon for free with no questions asked other than whether or not I wanted the Pokemon they were offering (which I always said yes because why would I turn up a free Pokemon?) and the Pokemon they were offering was always one that I needed to overcome a section of the game that I had gotten stuck in (usually a Gym Leader who I was having trouble beating). I was just surprised that there were NPCs in the games who were just ready and willing to give me a Pokemon that could help me with my current problems and that they were willing to give them to me free of charge. For anyone playing Pokemon Yellow who’s curious about where these helpful NPCs are, the first one is in a house in Cerulean City and will give you a Bulbasaur (very helpful if you’re struggling with Misty and need another Pokemon with type advantage over water types). The next one is in Vermillion City and will give you a Squirtle. The last one is on Route 24 and will give you a Charmander (I don’t remember the specific location of the NPC, but you should find them if you make an effort to talk to all of the NPCs there). I don’t know if these NPCs are still present in the Let’s Go games as I haven’t gotten far enough into them yet due to my attention being occupied by life and other games and interests.

my first pokemon game was Soul Silver which i bought when i was 12. X came out later that year and became the first pokemon game i ever beat (i hate you, Clair) so im feeling a lot of Kalos nostalgia too. im super hyped for when Galar gets to be fondly remembered though. Britains pokemon region introduced buying DLC instead of the same game again but with additions and deserves a chance for people to not be mad about that.

Plus the fact that Lightning Rod is Pokemon ability and abilities weren't even introduced before gen 3 makes this even more ridiculous😂

So im going through my first nuzlock as im watching this and riggt after loseing 2 mons to a random high level axew trainer i run into a horde and its 4 seviper and a xangoose i shit my pants and fail running then the sevipers proceed to body the zangoose and i get a chance to run FUCK YES MORE OF THIS

They don’t make quality games like this anymore. I could play this for hours and not get bored. Imagine if they made a game like this. But an opened world. Released on iOS and android. The game would make millions in the mobile gaming industry.

Back when they had 3D functionality for their 3D games. When Sun+Moon came out and you could battle in 3D i was just like wtf dude. The 3Ds feels like a bait+switch console

There are too many differences in how you interract with the models in game for Bintendo to win in court. If they were printed on a shirt, there might be a case but palworld is a fundamentally different game than pokemon. Having more mechanics in common with syrvival games, than JRPGs. Image alone will be the only evidence only if image was the critical reason they made money which it clearly wasn't.

As long as the designs have been sufficiently changed. People seem to forget that also applies in terms of how you interract. Pokemon will have one hell of a legal battle only for it to probably go the other way and slam open the door to derivatives. Legally speaking Palworld isn't close to infringement plus with all their money, they could probably go toe to toe in court. Nintendo knows more than you, I promise their legal department is bigger. I think the real problem is that pokemon is so underbaked compared to the available resources of the company, that an early access indie could take the market. That is an indicator of an EXTREMELY unhealthy business. Their C-suite should be rightfully sweating right now. Market share is literally impoasible yo claw back proactively

Yeah that “it’s random which one it evolves into” is why in all my plathroughs of Sapphire I just skip the BS and catch a Cascoon and a Silcoon in the Petalburg Woods, in fact they’re even at a lower level than you normal would need Wurmple to be at to get either evolution, you’ll find them at Lv.5 there and it normally is required for Wurmple to be at Lv. 7.

I don;t understand the praise gen 5 gets? Ugliest Pokemon, most boring overworld and a villain/story that make even Lysandre look subtle by comparison. Is it literally just nostalgia from those who grew up with it? Seems like all the hate gen 6 gets could just as easily be directed at gem 5 tenfold.
